I snuck back out to SUPER Kroger (the Howell Kroger that doubles coupons up to and including $1) this weekend with my girlfriend Alissa- the Alissa who inspired me to begin spending coupons in the first place!!! I love to grocery shop with friends! We get a chance to chat (child-free) and catch up, we shop well (and share coupons) and we each bring home needed groceries for our families! Win- win all the way around!

Another added benefit is that since SUPER Kroger only allows the spending of 3 identical coupons per person, I was able to have Alissa use 3 more of my Dannon and Aussie coupons for my benefit! Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE that girl?

Coupon Clipper: First, I love your blog.

Second, I was looking online at the weekly ad for the Super Kroger in Howell ... and the bottom of the first page has double coupons up to 50 cents. Do you know if they stopped doubling up to $1.00, or (hopefully) did the wrong ad come up? I usually head over there once a month (from Milford).

Me: Thanks, glad you like my blog! Secondly, I had heard the same rumor... but I called this morning to verify and YES the Howell Kroger (the one that I have dubbed SUPER Kroger) is still doubling coupons up to and including $1... the ad was a mis-print!

SUPER Kroger has tweaked their coupon rules, here are is the current list of rules:

1. SUPER Kroger accepts coupons up to and including $1. (Doubling high value coupons is what makes SUPER Kroger super!!! Keep in mind the sign on the outside of the store will still just say Kroger not SUPER Kroger!!!)

2. SUPER Kroger limits the number of identical coupons to 3 per person per day. (This means that you may only spend three Crest coupons.)

3. SUPER Kroger does not allow coupons to be used in combination with buy one get one FREE items.

4. SUPER Kroger does NOT accept expired coupons. (*No stores accept expired!)

5. SUPER Kroger will accept Internet coupons as long as they have different serial numbers (this number can be found in the upper right hand corner of the Internet printable coupons).

6. SUPER Kroger will not split your order into separate transactions.

7. SUPER Kroger does not accept competitor's coupons.

Super Kroger

Well, I decided at the last minute to sneak to Super Kroger on Sunday... a quick in and out trip, only 40 minutes!

FREE items include: Crest, Reach floss, Dannon drinkables & crush cups (thanks Carrie for the heads up!!!), Coke (replacement coupon for purchasing an expired pack), Oscar Mayer hot dogs from a home mailer, Velveta single serve's from a home mailer, Suave deodorant, Lawry's marinade from coupons & a rain check and Bounty paper towels.

I was seriously flying through the store just picking up the items that I knew would be FREE, plus I was trying to purchase 10 participating items to receive an additional $5 off of my bill. I grabbed 2 Kleenex boxes (like the 16 boxes that I purchased 2 weeks ago weren't enough... they were my fillers!), 6 boxes of Kellogg's cereal, and 2 Kraft dressings. When I was checking out my cashier and I realized that my Kraft dressing coupons and my Kellogg's coupons were expired... so I accidentally still purchased the Kleenex... at almost $4 for 2 boxes... YIKES! Two weeks ago I purchased 8 boxes for that same amount of money... so I may take them back, although I feel a bit silly returning boxes of Kleenex!

I learned something new at SK... I spent the (4) $1 Catalina's (store reward money that prints like a coupon next to your receipt) that I had earned from purchasing my Kleenex two weeks ago, and since it is a manufacturer's coupon... I received double the reward... or $2 for my $1 Catalina! Woo Hoo!

I also had a few coupons that we not scanning properly, so my cashier had to manually enter them into the register. My cashier was entering them as "store coupons" instead of 'manufacturer coupons,' which might not seem like a big deal... but store coupons NEVER double, so I missed out on some discounts... bummer!

As I was checking out, a store manager commented on how savvy a shopper I was with my stack of a million and five coupons. chuckled and said that I was shopping among friends this morning. She grinned and said that she was expecting us... she said that she was warned that a "coupon nerd herd" was planning to bombard the store this morning. She even said that the her "spy" had read this info on a blog! I smirked and let her know that it was MY blog... well, we are now best friends as she enjoyed the publicity for her store and I enjoyed the publicity of my blog!

Another Success Story!!!

Coupon Clipper: On my maiden voyage to Super Kroger, I scored!!!

It took me 2 hours, but…I spent $31 and saved $133. I even bought diapers! I feel like a coupon ninja. ( Me: I LOVE that feeling!!!)

I did forget they only take 3 identical coupons, just a little oopsie there but I straightened it out. I have to examine my receipt a little closer but I believe they gave me overage too…they didn’t adjust any coupon amounts so they must have. I guess it’s worth the extra 5 mins to go to Super Kroger sometimes.

Also, it seems there they do the “Manager Special” markings in the morning. I got there around 9:30 and they were just finishing them up. I bought a bunch of Manager Special bread! Yeah!

The only thing missing was…a coupon partner to share my coupons with!

Me: SWEET! Just call me! I'm always game!!!

I bought quite a few items that Dave really likes (4 Johnsonville brat products and big bags of pizza rolls), that I have coupons for- but that are higher that $.50 and my regular grocery stores won't double. So I often will save them for my monthly trip to Super Kroger!

A few of my friends from church and I get together for snackies (thanks Jarett) and then we shop together. We plan our shopping party for the last Sunday of the month- to use our coupons before they expire. If you'd like to join us next month- just let me know!!!
