Q & A

Coupon Clipper: After this weeks shopping I have two more questions this time re: Walgreen's (sorry, I'm still learning).

1) I tried to use my WAG register rewards ($11 worth) and was told they wouldn't scan and that the cashier tried to enter them by hand but that wouldn't work either. Why not? His suggested reason (though he didn't sound sure of his answer) was that it didn't work since I had used so many coupons. Is that true? I used 2 WAG coupons (from the add this week) and 4 Manufacturers coupons. I bought 5 items. Can you explain this? Should I have asked a manager to remedy this? I was so bummed since my total was $13 so I would've only paid $2!

Me: You should gave been able to use 1 Register Reward since RR's are actually viewed by the cash register as Manufacturer's coupons. Walgreen's allows ONE manufacturer coupon per item purchased (Walgreen's store coupons don't count!!!) You must have had more than one RR.

Coupon Clipper: 2) I saw this in your blog "I brought $47 in Register Rewards (from Walgreen's) with me, and I purchased a $50 Meijer gift card for later use since RR's expire within two weeks." How does that work? I thought RR could only be used at Walgreen's!

Me: RR's are actually manufacturer coupons, and they CAN be accepted RR's but they are NOT obligated to. Just ask your cashier or store manager next time you shop at your store. *I have called the company makes these coupons possible to verify that this information is accurate!
